Editorial

On the eve of another ECB meeting and as the Fed has just reiterated its resolve regarding inflation, the crypto-asset market enters a stretch dense with sometimes contradictory signals. On one hand, Bitcoin remains firmly positioned above €70 000, supported by record inflows into spot ETFs and massive withdrawals from centralized platforms, which reduce the immediately available supply. On the other hand, the ecosystem still faces structural vulnerabilities, illustrated by the Bitget hack valued at over €340 million, and a programmed inflation of supply via a wave of token unlocks exceeding €2,5 billion in October. For European participants, the regulatory dynamic is equally decisive: the European Banking Authority has just clarified its priorities for the revision of MiCA, while the EU refines the scope of crypto-assets deemed risky. At the same time, Ethereum formalizes an ambitious roadmap toward 2030, with major upgrades as early as late 2026. today’s edition invites readers to distinguish between short-term flow effects, deeper shifts in infrastructure, and the legal framework.

Bitcoin: record withdrawals from exchanges and inflows to ETFs, heading toward a new phase of supply tightening?

As of September 27, 2026, centralized exchanges recorded a seven-day net withdrawal balance of 31 782 BTC, according to Coinglass data relayed by Gate US. With a reference price of about €73 210 per BTC, these withdrawals represent nearly €2,33 billion transferred to off-exchange wallets or alternative custody solutions. Binance accounts for the bulk of the movement, with 19 500 BTC withdrawn over the period, or about €1,43 billion, which noticeably reduces the reserves immediately available for sale on that platform.

These flows are part of a broader movement of Bitcoin leaving centralized exchanges estimated at the equivalent of nearly €2,64 billion (≈3 billion $) over the week, according to market data relayed by PrimeXBT. At the same time, BTC price stood around €73 800 (≈84 027 $) on September 27, 2026, according to BTCTiming. The fear and greed index at 75 indicates a market sentiment leaning toward optimism (“greed”), despite recent increased volatility that calls for caution in interpreting these signals.

U.S. spot Bitcoin ETFs recorded about €2,11 billion (≈2,4 billion $) of net inflows for the week ending September 26, 2026, according to The Block. This is their largest weekly intake since October of the previous year. According to TokenPost, these inflows have returned the 2026 cumulative balance of spot ETFs to positive territory, after a deficit of about €5,09 billion (≈5,8 billion $) earlier in the year, illustrating renewed institutional interest in regulated Bitcoin exposure.

The combination of massive withdrawals from exchanges and substantial flows into ETFs is gradually altering the liquidity structure of the Bitcoin market. Fewer BTC remain available on exchange order books, while a growing proportion is locked into regulated vehicles or held in off-exchange custody. This relative scarcity of floating supply could amplify the impact of future demand shocks, both upward and downward. However, recent history reminds us that these dynamics do not preclude sharp corrections or rapid sentiment reversals.

Bitget: a hack of more than €340 million revives counterparty risk on crypto exchanges

The Bitget hack, estimated at around €340,3 millions (≈$387,5 millions), stands as one of the most significant security incidents of 2026 and brings the issue of the operational robustness of centralized platforms back to the forefront.
